Traveling with Kids:
You work hard, whether it is at the office or carpooling, cooking, laundry or all of the above. The list goes on and on. So when it comes to vacation, you want to relax AND have fun with the kids. It can be overwhelming but careful planning for each part of the trip will take you from thinking “Am I crazy?” to “That is the best thing I ever did!”
Trips of a Lifetime specializes in family vacations because we plan them and take them all the time! Not only can we recommend family-friendly destinations and hotels but we can give you tips for every phase of the trip to ensure it really is a Trip of a Lifetime. The perfect vacation for you should be tailored to your needs and wants.
Did you know that you can order supplies from diapers.com and have them sent to your hotel? Did you know that only triangular crayons won’t fall off the airplane tray table? Did you know you could save the cost and hassle of parking by paying a babysitter to drive the family to and from the airport? Find all these great tips and more in Allison’s book “The Mom’s Guide to Traveling with Kids.”
When planning we like to talk to you about your needs and wants and tailor the trip to your family. Do you want to stay at a resort? Rent a house or a condo? Do you want to be on the beach? Do you want an all-inclusive resort? A separate children’s pool? A kid’s club?
Traveling with kids recommendations:
San Diego – Sea World, san Diego Wild Animal Park, LEGOLAND, San Diego Zoo are just a few of the fabulous family-friendly activities in San Diego. Of course there are the beaches also. Disneyland is less than 2 hours away too. A family favorite hotel is the Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa and their dive-in movie at the pool under the stars.
Heading to Disney World? A great family vacation if planned well. Due to nap schedules and potential lines, we recommend Disney for three-year olds and up. It is important when traveling with kids to understand the busiest times to visit the parks. We always recommend staying “in the park” at Disney World if your budget allows. You’ll save time and energy and have more play time at the parks. The Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian are the hotels on the Magic Kingdom monorail. For more information on the parks and other budget option hotels and information on Disneyland, see our blog post here.
Looking to stay at an all-inclusive? These are a great option if you want to relax and not worry about spending money while on your vacation. They are also usually a great value, particularly since kids meals add up. Many all-inclusive hotels have sister properties in the area that often allow you to “stay at one and play at the others.” Trips of a Lifetime has planned countless all-inclusive vacations for families. Let us steer you to the one perfect for your family. Our personal favorite? Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos.
Have a larger family and want the comfort of more room than a hotel room? Want a kitchen so you don’t have to eat every meal out? Condo resorts are popping up all over the place – the luxury of space combined with the activities and restaurants of a resort. A customer favorite is Tranquility Bay in Florida – a luxury townhouse resort.
